If you are an experienced web entrepreneur or a novis the web and the possible choices on how to market your product or service can be very daunting. I would always advise to start with the end in mind. Easier said than done you might say. So lets break it down, in simple terms, you have a product/service (let's call this your offering from here in).
Your aim may be to eventually sell the business at some point in time, however the aim of your web site/shop is in simple terms, at this stage, is to act as a marketing support tool as part of your marketing mix or as your whole business selling and marketing operation depending on which model you have adopted.
Either of which, if we are agreed at this stage, means the objective is to expose the offering to as many of the targetted potential audience whom have a need for your offering as possible. At the same time there is a need for you the owner to be able to monitor, adjust and tweak the way the web presence manages and maximises the results achieved during connection with users on an ongoing basis. This is because users/buyers have changing behaviours and activities which are far easier to understand in for instance a corner shop than through the web. Don't dismay though, understanding online behaviours whilst requires some investment can reap great rewards and at the same time, allow you to scale your business more cost effectively and efficiently as you grow.
